"அறிவியல் நோக்கில்...."பெளத்தம் ஒரு அலசல் . " / பகுதி: 04

"அறிவியல் நோக்கில் 'இலங்கையின் காலவரிசைப்படி நிகழ்வுகளை பதிவு செய்த பண்டைய  இலங்கை நூல்களில் [நாளாகமம்களில்]' ஒரு பார்வை" / "A look at 'Lanka chronicles' from a scientific perspective" [In Tamil & English]

 

[This detailed Tamil article is based on Chapter 2: "Ceylon Chronicles" from the historical book "History of Sri Lanka", written by my late friend Mr. Kandiah Easwaran, a civil engineer. We were classmates at Jaffna Central College and later at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya. He had completed seven chapters of the book, aiming for a comprehensive work on the history of Sri Lanka. Unfortunately, he passed away suddenly on 15th June 2024 in Scarborough, Canada, before he could complete and publish the book. However, the English summary included under this Tamil article was written by the late Mr. Kandiah Easwaran himself. He had worked in Sri Lanka as well as in a few foreign countries before retiring several years ago. / இந்த விரிவான தமிழ் கட்டுரை, "History of Sri Lanka" என்ற வரலாற்றுப் புத்தகத்தின் இரண்டாவது அத்தியாயமான "Ceylon Chronicles" ஐ அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்டு எழுதப்பட்டது. இந்த புத்தகத்தை என் பள்ளித் தோழரும், பேராதனைப் பல்கலைக்கழகப் பொறியியல் பீட நண்பருமான, மறைந்த கட்டடப் பொறியியலாளரான திரு கந்தையா ஈஸ்வரன் எழுதியிருந்தார். ஒரு முழுமையான வரலாற்றுப் புத்தகத்தை உருவாக்கும் நோக்கத்தில், அவர் இதுவரை ஏழு அத்தியாயங்களை முடித்திருந்தார். ஆனால் இந்தப் புத்தகத்தை முடித்து, பொது வெளியீட்டுக்காக அச்சிடும் முன்பே, 15 ஜூன் 2024 அன்று கனடா நாட்டின் ஒன்றாரியோ மாகாணத்தில் உள்ள டொராண்டோவின் ஒரு மாவட்டமான ஸ்கார்பரோவில் திடீரென உயிரிழந்தார். இருப்பினும், இந்த தமிழ் கட்டுரையின் கீழ் உள்ள ஆங்கில சுருக்கம் அவரே எழுதியதாகும். திரு கந்தையா ஈஸ்வரன் இலங்கையிலும், சில வெளிநாடுகளிலும் பணியாற்றி, சில ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன் ஓய்வுபெற்றிருந்தார் என்பது குறிப்பிடத் தக்கது.]

 

பகுதி: 04 / 'இந்தியாவில் நடந்ததாகக் கூறப்படும் மூன்று பௌத்த சபைகள் யாவை?'

 

இந்தியாவில் நடந்ததாகக் கூறப்படும் மூன்று புத்த சபைகள் பற்றிய விவரங்கள் இங்கு கூறப்பட்டு உள்ளன. முதல் சபையின் விவாதம் ஏழு மாதங்கள் நீடித்தது. இரண்டாவது சபையில் எட்டு மாதங்கள் விவாதம் நடந்தது. மூன்றாவது சபை ஒன்பது மாதங்கள் நீடித்தது; தீபவம்சத்தின் 5-5, 5-29 மற்றும் 7-59 ஐப் பார்க்கவும். சபைகளின் காலங்கள் ஏழு, எட்டு மற்றும் ஒன்பது மாதங்கள் என்ற ஒரு நேர்த்தியான ஏறுவரிசையில் உள்ளன என்று ஒருவர் ஆச்சரியப்படலாம்? ஆனால்,  தற்செயல் நிகழ்வுகள், அதிசய நிகழ்வுகள், அற்புதமான நிகழ்வுகள் மற்றும் பறத்தல், முன்னோக்கிப் பார்த்தல், தொலைநோக்குப் பார்வை, முன்னறிவித்தல் மற்றும் கணித்தல் [coincidences, miraculous happenings, fabulous events, and super human abilities like flying, foreseeing, farseeing, foretelling, and predicting] போன்ற அதீத மனித திறன்கள் இந்த நூல்கள் மூன்றிலும் காணப்படுகின்றன. இவை மத நூல்களில், ஒரு  அலங்காரங்களாக அல்லது ஒப்பனையாக கூறுவது  மிகவும் வழக்கமானவை. உதாரணமாக, ஒருவரின் ஆடை மணிகளால் அலங்கரிக்கப்பட்டதாக விவரிப்பது அல்லது கட்டிடத்தை சிற்பங்களால் அலங்கரித்ததாக கூறுவது போன்ற ஒரு அலங்கரிப்பையே இங்கு காண்கிறோம். ஆனால் இவை உண்மையான வரலாற்று நிகழ்வுகள் அல்ல என்பதை நீங்கள் உணரவேண்டும்!

 

பிரம்மாவின் உலகில் இருந்து மொகாலிபுத்த தீசர் (Moggaliputtatissa; கிமு 327–247), [ஏன் இந்து கடவுள் உலகத்தில் இருந்து?] கீழே இறங்கி வந்து ஒரு பிராமண குடும்பத்தில் பிறப்பார் [ஏன் பிராமண குடும்பத்தில் இருந்து?], மேலும் ஒரு சிறந்த ஆசிரியராக புத்த மதத்திற்கு மாறுவார் என்றும் இரண்டாவது பௌத்த சபையின் முடிவில் முன்னறிவித்தார்கள். இவர் மகிந்தவை அதிகாரப்பூர்வமாக மதத் தலைவராக்கினார். இரண்டாவது பௌத்த சபைக்கு, நூற்று பதினெட்டு ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பிறகு, மூன்றாவது பௌத்த பேரவை நிகழும் என்றும் இங்கு முன்னமே எதிர்கூறப்பட்டது. இந்த மூன்றாவது சபை, மகிந்த மற்றும்  மொகாலிபுத்த தீசர் பற்றி பின்னர் விவாதிப்போம்.

Part: 04 / 'What are the three Buddhist Councils, which allegedly took place in India?'

 

There are details about three Buddhist Councils, which allegedly took place in India. The deliberations in the first council lasted seven months. The deliberations in the second council lasted eight months. That in the third council lasted nine months; see 5-5, 5-29 and 7-59 of the Dipavamsa. One might wonder that the durations of the councils are in a neat ascending order of, seven, eight and nine months. There are so many coincidences, miraculous happenings, fabulous events, and super human abilities like flying, foreseeing, farseeing, foretelling, and predicting in the chronicles. These are quite usual as religious adornments or embellishments, but these are not genuine historical events. 

 

Theros foresaw at the end of the second Buddhist Council that Moggaliputta Tissa from Brahma’s world [Why Hindu god's world?] would come down and would be born into a Brahman family [Why Brahman family?], and would convert to the Buddhism to become a great teacher. He ordained Mahinda. The Third Buddhist Council was also predicted to occur one hundred and eighteen years after the second Buddhist Council. We will discuss more about this Third council, Mahinda, and the Moggaliputta Tissa later.
